Archie Clifton Coop was born July 27, 1931 in Cumberland County, Kentucky to Dullie Key and Eugene McKinley Coop. He graduated from North Warren (KY) High School in 1948. He spent a year as an officer of Kentucky's Future Farmers of America. In 1950, he joined the US Navy and was stationed at NAS Jacksonville. It was in Jacksonville where he met Geraldine Collins. They were married December 12, 1953, and remained sweethearts until her passing in September 2017. He was lifelong member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by one brother, Larry Coop (Sharon) of Bowling Green, KY, his sons, Michael Coop (Emily Kaltenbach) of Sante Fe NM, Cliff Coop of O'Brien, FL, and Greg Coop (Lisa) of Richmond, TX, and grandchildren Lauren Coop Brownell (David), Matt Coop, Geneva Coop and many nieces and nephews.
