Betty Lou Nix Abercrombie, 91, Live Oak, FL passed away on February 6, 2023, at Haven Hospice in Lake City, FL. She was born on February 25, 1931, in Cleveland, Georgia where she grew up and graduated from Cleveland High School.

She was the widow of Thomas E. Abercrombie, Sr. and the mother of two daughters and one son. She was a homemaker, an active member of First Baptist Church of Live Oak, and a huge golf fan, which she played in her early years but later kept the golf channel on her tv constantly. She bowled with a ladies league in Lake City and she enjoyed ragtime piano playing, which she was taught by her blind uncle in North Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Carrie Ravan Nix and Arnold Nix; her husband: Thomas E. Abercrombie, Sr.; her younger sister: Joann Waldrep, and her son: Thomas E. Abercrombie, Jr.

Betty is survived by her brother: Hoyt Nix (Nell), Sarasota, FL; her two daughters: Sandra A. Cornelius (Buddy), Cornelia, GA, Diane Crews (Doyle) Lake City, FL. She is also survived by six grandchildren, eight-great grandchildren, seven nieces, and nephews.

A graveside service at Live Oak Cemetery will be held on Thursday, February 9th at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Haven Hospice, 6037 West US Hwy 90, Lake City, FL 32055.
