Betty Land Whigham, 87, Tampa, FL passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022. She was born in Hatchbend, FL to Dorthie and Buck Land.

While living in Hatchbend, Mrs. Whigham attended Lafayette High School. After graduating at the top of her class, she then attended Riverside School of Nursing and later received her Bachelor's Degree from Vanderbilt University. She received her Postgraduate Degrees from the University of Florida and the University of South Florida.

Mrs. Whigham began her teaching career as a nursing professor at Gordon Keller School of Nursing and then spent the next 40 years as a beloved lead nursing professor at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa.

Mrs. Whigham is survived by her daughter: Sharon Betty Whigham Amorosi (Mark), Washington, D.C.; two sons: Troy Roger Whigham, Tampa, FL, David Land Whigham (Kimberly), Gainesville, FL; four sisters: Neta Mae Land Ward, Hatchbend, FL, Lexie Land, Hatchbend, FL, Virginia Land Coker, Hatchbend, FL, Mevelyn Lewis (Tommy), Branford, FL; brother: Raymon J. Land (Annette), Hatchbend, FL; five grandchildren: Cody, Ainsley Whigham, William, Carley and Andrew Amorosi. She was preceded in death by her husband: Roger Elmo Whigham, her sister: Patty Land Harris, and her brother: J.L. Johnson Land. There will be a visitation held on Friday, July 8th at 10 am at Hatchbend Apostolic Church with the service following at 11 am with Rev. Max Bass, Mr. Brian Lewis, and Mr. Adrian Land, Sr. officiating.  Interment will be held in the church cemetery.
