Bill K. Thompson, 85, of O'Brien, FL passed away in the presence of his family, on November 25, 2022. Bill was born in Jacksonville, FL, and as a young man worked with his father in the restaurant business. In 1961, at the age of 26 Bill moved to the family farm to raise a family and Farm. He would later purchase and operate the Western Auto franchise in Branford for nearly 20 years. He also founded pawn shops in Branford and Alachua, before retiring to focus on travel and managing his beloved tree farm.

Bill raised his family in the First Baptist Church of Branford where he was ordained as a deacon in 1961 at the age of 26. He taught Sunday School for many years until a stroke in 1998 limited his ability to speak. At his death, Bill was a member of Union Baptist Church in O'Brien.

Bill was an active member of his community. In addition to his church service, he served as a Suwannee County Commissioner from 1968-1976, was active in the Florida Highway Patrol auxiliary for over 20 years, being appointed as reserve FHP officer in 1991, a distinction he held until his resignation in 1998.

Bill and his wife Jackie loved to travel, making many trips over our country exploring, making friends, and memories. They were both active members of their travel club, Sunshine Adventures, where they formed a group of very close friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents: Bill and Georgia Thompson; son: Raymond Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 67 years: Jacqueline 'Jackie' Thompson; sons: Larry (Marilyn) Thompson, Michael (Susan) Thompson, Gary (Donna) Thompson; grandsons: Blaine, Seth, Drew, and Brandon Thompson; granddaughter: Jemma Thompson.

Services will be held at Union Baptist Church in O'Brien, FL on November 29, 2022, at 11 am, with Pastor Danny Humphries officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 am prior to the service. Interment will be held at Burlington Santa Fe Cemetery.
