On Saturday, May 31, 2025, Carol Mae Tanksley Young passed away after a brief and sudden illness. Born in 1964 in Upstate New York, Carol was raised in Georgia and made Live Oak her permanent residence in 1982. Carol was a lifelong hospitality worker, and if you ever stayed at the Econo Lodge or Quality Inn in Live Oak, you likely encountered her wonderful smile and her genuine desire to make your day or night as pleasant as possible.

Carol leaves behind three wonderful sons, Justin Young, Donald Waters, and James Waters, and grandchildren Elliott Waters and Leo Waters, as well as numerous brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her long-time partner and husband, Tony Daughtry, her parents, Adam and Beverly Young, and her brother, Alan Young.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date by her sons to allow family and friends time to schedule and attend.
