Christopher "Chris" Aue

Christopher “Chris” Aue, 72, Live Oak, FL passed away on August 9, 2026.

When Chris was born, he faced many physical challenges. There were times when doctors and others questioned whether he would ever walk or how long he would live. But through his determination, perseverance, and the unwavering support of his family, Chris defied those expectations. He learned to walk, ride bicycles, and water ski, and became proficient at operating an airboat.

Chris was a true country man who loved the simple things in life. He was an avid outdoorsman and found great joy in spending time outside. He loved turkey hunting, deer hunting, fox hunting, and nearly any activity that allowed him to enjoy the outdoors. He also loved music and taught himself to play the guitar. In his later years, one of his favorite hobbies was building unique guitars out of cigar boxes, combining his creativity and love of music into something he could make with his own hands. He also enjoyed watching old Westerns and appreciated the simple pleasures of life.

Chris was an exceptionally talented draftsman and enjoyed a successful career spanning more than 15 years. When health limitations eventually forced him to retire, he continued to live an active lifestyle for many years. Even as his health became more challenging during the last five years of his life, he continued to face life with the same strength and perseverance that had carried him through so many challenges.

Chris lived a life that many once thought might not be possible. He overcame obstacles from the very beginning, learned to do things others said he might never be able to do, and built a life filled with family, work, the outdoors, music, and the simple things he loved. His determination, independent spirit, creativity, and love of life will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Chris is survived by his longtime companion: Kim Brannan; stepdaughter: Dorothy McCook, Jacksonville, FL, stepdaughter in law, whom he loved like a daughter: Mayhala Shebuch, Ray City, GA; sisters: Alma Bracewell, Betty Clark (Freddy), Gloria Johnson (Jimmy), all of Live Oak; sister-in-law: Evelyn Aue Bell, Live Oak; two grandchildren: Evander McCook, Jasper Brannan; numerous nieces and nephews; and his loving dog: Daisy. He was preceded in death by his parents: Otto and Ruby Mae Aue; brothers: Wayne Aue and Wyndell Aue.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am Friday, August 14th at Daniels Memorial Chapel with a visitation held prior at 10:00 am.
