Douglas (Doug) Arnold Ivie, 83, passed away on April 10, 2026 and is now in the arms of his Savior. He was born in Tampa, Florida and went on to live a life defined by service, dedication, and hard work. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, an experience that helped shape the discipline and character he carried throughout his life. After his military service, he dedicated 35 years to Tampa Electric Company
(TECO), where he built a career marked by reliability, skill, and commitment. He took pride not only in the work he did, but in the life he built and the way he faithfully provided for his family. Over the years, he became known not only for what he did professionally, but for what he could do with his hands. He was a pilot, a builder, and an inventor at heart —someone who could fix, create, or figure out just about anything he set his mind to. He was an outdoorsman through and through. He loved fishing and hunting and found peace in being outside. Whether working on the homestead, on a project, rebuilding an engine, or crafting something from wood, stone or metal, he was always creating and improving.
He also had a passion for martial arts and was dedicated to Kito Karate. He was a man of quiet strength and integrity—someone who didn't need many words to make a lasting impact and was always quick with a joke for anyone he came into contact with during his day to day. Friendly, approachable, loved. He was deeply respected, not just for what he knew, but for how he lived.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rosemary Ivie; his sons, Doug Ivie with his wife Angela, Gary Ivie with his wife Eunice; and his grandchildren, Perry Ivie, Lauren Ivie, Jamice Ivie, Jordyn Weaver (Joshua Weaver), Jacob Ivie, Josiah Ivie, Jewel Ivie, and Jase Ivie.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and mentor. His influence lives on in the lives he shaped, the lessons he passed down, and the example he set every day. There is peace in knowing where he is, but there is also a space that cannot be filled the same way again. He will be deeply missed for his wisdom, his steady presence, and the life he built for his family. With love and gratitude, his family honors the man he was and the legacy he leaves behind. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, April 24, 2026, in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with internment following in the Live Oak Cemetery.
