Edward Stanley Szuchyt passed away on August 20th, 2026, in Live Oak, FL, surrounded by family. He was born on June 7th, 1945 in Perkasie, Pennsylvania and spent his youth in Quakertown PA. It's so hard to imagine Ed not being here anymore, he was such a force of nature. His honesty and way with words served all those around him, directly or indirectly, with wisdom and/or entertainment, whether they liked it at the time or not. To tell the story of his life you might think we're making up a version of Forrest Gump where the main character is instead exceptionally street smart with some interesting dragons to slay in life, the combination of which land him in some amazing scenarios, but it'd all be true. The condensed version however is while serving in the USAF, first at Plattsburg NY and was selected on the Presidential Honor Guard and Golf Team (even though he wasn't a golfer), Ed served as a US Supreme Court Police Officer for 30 years. His rapport with the Justices could fill a book itself. His love of blasting Polka music instilled an immunity in those around him that gave them what amounted to super powers later in life. Ed's skill in keeping his yard impeccable was widely known, it's almost as if wherever he lived needed to be as immaculate as where he worked, perhaps God wanted a new landscape architect. Or maybe a mechanic, Ed never met a car he couldn't keep going for at least 400k miles. We won't mention boats. When Ed gave you his opinion on something, it could sting, it could shock, but you always knew there was truth in there and it came from a place of love, poorly hidden behind a gruff expletive laden facade. Ed's love for his wife Kristine was boundless, they were married for 39 years and shared many adventures together. His unique and frugal fashion sense meant they were still in love even as his thrift-shop finds began to consume all the home's closets. The apples of his eyes were his daughters April Szuchyt-Al-saeed (and grandson Zayd) and Holly Szuchyt from his first marriage to Susan (Bowling). His stepkids Lara Sbarbori-Blanchard and Josh Sbarbori benefited greatly from his wisdom, many sayings of which cannot be shared in this format, but will be passed down and remembered through time with those worthy of such knowledge. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and John Szuchyt, his older brother John and his younger brother James. Thank you Ed, we will all miss you, but know in our hearts this is just a 'till we meet again'! We will all hear you still in our heads, thank God! Your work is done now Ed, now it's time for fun in Heaven.

A service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at the convenience of his family. There are no calling hours.
