Franklin J. Mobley, Sr.

Franklin J. Mobley, Sr., of Wellborn, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026, at the age of 92.

Born on February 25, 1934, he was the son of the late Perry Leo Mobley and Mary Ellen (Godbold) Mobley.

Frank proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Buck Sergeant. Following his military service, he briefly served as a firefighter before embarking on a lifetime career in the insurance industry, specializing in personal and residential insurance. Known for his gift of conversation and genuine personality, it was often joked that "he could sell a farmer a dead horse."

Throughout his life, Frank also pursued several business ventures. He owned Mary Jane Market in Live Oak, a neighborhood store in McAlpin, operated a service station, and farmed his property. Whatever endeavor he undertook, he approached it with hard work, determination, and a deep commitment to serving his community.

An avid outdoorsman, Frank found his greatest enjoyment deer hunting, turkey hunting and fishing.  He was one of the founders and an honorary member of the Buckhorn Hunting Club. He was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and was proud to be a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), the Elks Lodge, and the Moose Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Perry Douglas Mobley, Howard Mobley, Charles Mobley, and Leo J. Mobley; his sister, Mamie Gatchell; and his son, Franklin J. Mobley, Jr.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his longtime companion Angie Baker; his sons, David Lamar Mobley and Greg (JoLee) Mobley; his daughter, Donna Melissa Mobley; his brother, Recee (Charlene) Mobley; his sisters, Betty Touchton, Maxine (Jerry) Kelly, and Bonnie (Keith) Moseley; his loving grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him greatly.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Daniels Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Daniels Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Cemetery in McAlpin, Florida.

Frank will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, his sense of humor, his love for the outdoors, his devotion to his family and friends, and the countless lives he touched throughout his long and meaningful life.
