George "Buddy" Haas entered the Haven of Rest on June 23, 2024, at 10:05 pm in Haven Hospice, Lake City, FL. Buddy is survived by his wife of sixty-one years: Sandra McInnis Haas; two sons: Paul M. Haas (Kitty); Jonathan Lee Haas; two daughters: Michelle Haas Richards (Tony) and Deborah "Debbie" Snowberger; three sisters: Fredna Carter (Art), Mary E. Coyle "Cookie" and Glenda McDonald (Terry) and one brother: John Haas (Janice); eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Buddy's parents, Fred and Willie Haas predeceased him as well as his sister, Susan Cordle. Buddy worked as a Poultry Field Technician with Gold Kist (now Pilgrams Pride) from 1969 til 2005 when he retired. He went back to work for Pilgrams in 2007 and retired for the second time in 2018. He graduated from Suwannee High School in 1961 and obtained an AA from North Florida Junior College in Madison. Buddy was born in his parents' home in McAlpin on March 1, 1943, and lived on that same farm all his life. Buddy and Sandra were married in 1963 and purchased the family farm as well as his Uncle Arnett Hillhouse's farm after their marriage and grew row crops. They also raised and showed registered Durocs and in 1974 built the first chicken house which would eventually become a twenty-house poultry operation. Buddy was an avid Gator fan, being converted by his wife, he grew up an FSU fan. He loved to play golf with his Branford "crew" until he tore his shoulder up sliding into a base while playing softball with some of those same friends. He was an even more avid Nascar fan and on Saturday and Sunday you could count on him watching the races on TV. He was a member of Orchard Community Church and was a faithful member until dementia became so bad that he was forced to attend online.

The family will have a private interment following cremation. There will be a service to honor Buddy's life at 6pm Friday, July 12, 2024 at Daniels Funeral Home, Live Oak, FL.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Haven Hospice in Lake City at 6037 W US Hwy 90, Lake City, FL 32055.
