James Anthony 'Andy' Blanton, aged 65, of Mayo, passed away on June 28, 2026. Andy had been a resident of Mayo for over 15 years after moving from Jacksonville, FL. He was employed as an officer at the Mayo Correctional Institute.

Andy had a profound love for fishing, particularly saltwater fishing, and often traveled to the Keys and the Gulf Coast to indulge in his passion. Despite his enthusiasm for catching fish, he never ate them. He also enjoyed hunting and spending time outdoors. Andy was known for his intelligence and his love of conversation, making him a true people person.

He grew up in the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by his parents, Russell P. and Catherine Hatch Blanton. Andy is survived by his sister, Jenny Adams (Anthony); his brothers, Perry Blanton, Tim Blanton (Judy), Ty Smith (Martha Lynn), and Marty Smith; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

A service to honor Mr. Blanton's life will be held at 1:00 pm Sunday, July 19th at the 4th District Community Center.
