James Collins, known to his family and friends as Jim, was born August 24, 1945 in Jacksonville, Florida to parents James Collins and Kay Marr. He died at home in Branford, Florida on May 13, 2026.

Jim was raised in Jacksonville, Florida with his parents and sister, Sandra Collins. He served in the Marine Corps Reserve and attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia. Before retirement, Jim had a career in commercial laundry equipment sales. He is survived by the mother of his children, Gail Collins, their children James Collins and Kristin Marlow, their grand-children Austin Marlow, Meghan Banastey, Claire Franco, AnnMarie Marlow, and Patrick Collins, and their great-grandchildren Leo Franco, Oliver Franco, and Theo Banastey. Jim is also survived by step-son Carl Brown, grandchildren Carly Brown and Ava Brown through his marriage with Mimi Mitchell.

Jim was never happier than when he was working with his hands whether that was gardening, cooking, or woodworking. He loved to make things for other people. He was an active member of his church San Juan De La Cruz Catholic Mission and loved his church family. He was very loved and will be very missed.
