James G. "Jimmy" Jones

James G. "Jimmy" Jones, 86, of Live Oak, FL, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026. Born in Dalton, GA, on September 27, 1939, to Allen Glenn and Virginia Louise (Cox) Jones.

Jimmy led a life full of dedication and service. He was a 30 year retired Staff Sergeant for the Florida National Guard with the 269th Engineer Company, Live Oak, FL. A committed professional, Jimmy worked at Altell in Live Oak, where he retired as Vice President after an impressive 42-year career. His contributions extended beyond his workplace; he was an active member and past president of both the Live Oak Country Club and The Chamber of Commerce. Together with a colleague, he played a pivotal role in bringing the cherished Christmas on the Square to Live Oak. Jimmy also served on the advisory board for Shands Live Oak Hospital, the Suwannee Baptist Association, and was involved with Gideons International. Deeply rooted in his faith, Jimmy was a devoted member of Tiger Lake Baptist Church. There, he served as chairman of deacons, taught Sunday school, and led the congregation in song. His interests included golfing, traveling, and tending to his yard.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Patricia L. "Pat" Jones; his son, Jeff Jones and his wife Lori of Live Oak; and sister, Trudy Jackson of Dalton, GA. He leaves behind two granddaughters, Emili Jones Kazmierski and her husband Connor from Orlando, FL, and Delilah Jones of Live Oak, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Glenn and Virginia Louise (Cox) Jones and brother, Richard Jones.

A celebration of Jimmy's life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 3rd, at Daniels Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Wally Weaver officiating. Interment will follow at Tiger Lake Baptist Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:30 am until service time Thursday morning.
