Larry E. Manke, 76, Live Oak, FL passed away February 7 th , 2024. He moved from Wyoming to Palm Beach, Florida in 1963 at the age of 15 with his family. Larry was a Vietnam Era Veteran while serving in the United States Army. He worked as a Master Welder for many years, becoming a teacher and trainer to the newer generations of welders. He is preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Nenette, his parents, Albert Manke and Mary Sisson, a brother Eddie. Larry is survived by his daughter, Karla Bye (of Live Oak) who was also his personal secretary & caregiver, his son-in-law Todd & granddaughter Megan. His son, Warren Moore (of Port St Lucie) & 2 grandchildren Liam and Mia, sons Larry & Bobby (of Okeechobee) and his sister Alice Jean Smith (of Palm Beach). Larry loved his wife Nenette and they had settled in Live Oak to enjoy retirement and to work on their crafts, she quite a quilter and he was a welder and woodworker and to take care of any animal that came their way. In a rather unfortunate way, his years of service affected him later and he was unable to weld any longer. His daughter and her family moved from Indiana to help his wife to take care of him, their property and their many animal companions. Nenette passed away suddenly from a rare disease, so his daughter became his sole caregiver. She likens it to a chaotic life but one she would do again and again. She hated yard work but became the family landscaper, took care of their many dogs which then turned from 7 dogs and no cats to 8 cats and no dogs, thanks to his granddaughter wanting to save a cat. The animals brought great joy to Larry, and he loved watching their antics. For the past seven or so months, Larry gained a TV partner when his sister Jeanie came to stay for a long visit. They enjoyed watching the news and documentaries. During the last days before his passing, his Granddaughter Megan and her Mom Karla remained by Larry's side, never leaving him. They held his hands, watched old classic Christopher Lee Dracula movies, and talked about Nenette who he missed dearly and wanted to be with. With much appreciation, the family wanted to express their gratitude to the wonderful, compassionate, professional staff from Haven Hospice. Even though it was only for a few short days, they made sure that Larry was taken care of as was his daughter and her family. Thank-you Jennifer.
