Larry Orville McCallister, 80, of Santa Rosa, Florida passed away on August 31, 2024.

Larry was born in West Virginia and moved to Jacksonville, Florida as a child. As an adult, he lived in Jacksonville, Florida, Keystone Heights, Florida, and Virginia. Recently, he moved to Santa Rosa, Florida to be closer to his eldest son as his health began to fail.

He served in the Vietnam War and was a combat veteran. After the war, Larry worked primarily as a merchant seaman. He and his wife, Georgia Butler McCallister, whose relationship expanded 52 years, enjoyed traveling and dining together.  On cruises, he enjoyed sitting on the balcony of their room and recalling his many years at sea.

He was predeceased by his parents, Opal and Dougley McCallister and brothers, Robert and Alan T. McCallister, Sr.

Larry is survived by his wife, Georgia. Son, Larry John McCallister, his wife, Lyra and their children, Ava, Liam, and Levi. Son, Josh McCallister, his wife, Jill and their children Jaryn and Janyssa. Daughter, Regina Clark, her husband, Roy, their daughter, Alexus "Lexi" and grandchildren, Tryton and Keigan. Nephews:  Warren Epstein (Kristen) and Alan T. McCallister, Jr.; Nieces: Roxanne May (James), Lori Kerr (Earl), Rhonda McCallister, Renee Boatwright and Lisa Beckwith (Kendrick). Sister-in-law, Lynda Butler Arter and many other friends and relatives.

Services will be Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Daniels Funeral Home Chapel in Live Oak. Visitation at 12 PM with services at 2 PM with John Bozeman, husband of longtime family friend, Brenda Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at the Live Oak Cemetery in the Dowling family space.
