Dr. Lawrence A. Stranch, 86, of Live Oak, FL passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2022. Born in Abbeville, SC he was the son of the late Dr. James G. Stranch and Monica Martin Stranch. He served in the US Army and was a graduate of the University of Houston School of Optometry. Lawrence moved to Live Oak, FL in 1986 and served the community as an optometrist for many decades. He was a longtime Rotarian and member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church.

He will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality and generosity, his ability to never meet a stranger, and his zest for travel, fishing, and life-long learning. An example of his gusto for adventure was his first skydiving experience at 61 years of age which was covertly planned for a day when Lucile was out of town. He lived by two adages, "It doesn't cost anything to be nice," and "You do what's right because it's right."

Dr. Stranch is survived by his wife, Lucile Parker Stranch; daughter, Christie Stranch Parke (Carl); and one grandchild, Sophie Elizabeth Parke. He was preceded in death by his brother James G. Stranch, Jr. and his sister Virginia Stranch McEachern Harrison.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate his life at 2 pm, Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Live Oak, FL.
