Leo Owens, 98, of Mt. Dora, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 19, 2023. Leo was born in 1925 on a small farm between Mayo and Branford, Florida, to the late James & Sarah Grinstead Owens. He later lived for a while in Ohio. He worked for Mayflower Moving Company, based in Fenton, Missouri, and traveled more than 2 million miles as a long-haul trucker. He was known as the "I-10 Flash." While still active as a semi-truck driver, he returned to Florida in 1972 and settled in the Oveido/Orlando area. He reluctantly retired after 44 years of faithful service.

Mr. Owens is survived by his sons, James Allen Owens and Tommy Owens: sister, Tiger Harper: grandchildren, Craig Meggs, Thomas Brandon Owens, Seth Stephens and Matthew Ryan Owens: and a great many other family members and friends.

A service to celebrate and remember his life will begin at 10:30 am on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Daniels Funeral Home, 408 Suwannee Ave. NW, Branford, FL. A visitation will begin at 10 am, prior to the service. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
