Louis J. Berry, 92, passed away on April 12 th , 2023, with the love of his family. Louis  was born August 13 th , 1930  to Alice and Ivy Berry  in Sneads, FL. Louis was preceded in death by his parents, the love of his life and wife of 70 years  Mary Etta Berry,  daughter, Mary Yvonne Brim (Charles), and two great-granddaughters,  brothers; Harris Woodrow, Leon, Amos, James, sisters; Ammie, Annie, Louise, Mary Ruth, Stella Edna and Alice.

Louis is survived by his brother Jackson  (Alice) Berry; brother in law Fred Gaylard (Goldie); daughter Julia Lovvorn (Rickey); grandchildren: Tracie Perbtani (Ali), Chris Dang (Nichole), Charles Brim (Brandi), Lori Tucker (Stephen), and Loi Tran Jr. (Brittany); 15 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and numerous  nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Louis was the patriarch of the family and discovered the foundation of family by guiding and supporting his future generations. He filled many of his days ministering and proclaiming the gospel to others as he pastored churches: Friendship, Mt. Calvary, Shady Grove, Old Providence Village, and Rosemary Baptist churches. He always cherished the friendships whom he served with and had love to those he ministered to.

Louis served in The United States Army and was stationed in Berlin, Germany.  Upon his return he worked on the farm and then become employed with The Suwannee County School System in the maintenance department and proceeded to work  for Live Oak  City Hall.   He constructed and worked at what is now Florida Gateway College (LCCC) and retired in 1991 as the Director of Facilities. Upon retirement he served as a consultant to Gov. Bush advocating for better care in nursing home facilities.

Louis loved the outdoors and nature, especially fishing.   Him and his wife Mary enjoyed traveling to the Smokey Mountains and spending many weekends on Pickett Lake in Mayo, Fl with family and friends.  He was proud of his hometown heritage and loved to share his knowledge of the region he grew up in. He devoted his time attending family reunions.  He enjoyed and had a passion for cooking especially frying fish and barbecuing.  He was everyone's biggest cheerleader and the memories made and life lessons learned made us all stronger, kinder and will live on with us forever.

A visitation and celebration of Louis's life will be held at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery, 5314 98th Terrace, Live Oak, FL, United States, on April 17 th , beginning at 10:00  a.m. for visitation, services at 11:00 a.m. and internment will follow. In lieu of flowers or donations, "Pastor Berry" known to many would request you to spread Christ's love to everyone.
