Mabel Elizabeth Burnett Locke, 72, Live Oak, FL passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022. She fought a long 9-month battle until her last breath, with her daughters, grandchildren, sister, and a few close friends by her side. The Madison County-born-native attended school in Lee, FL but lived most of her life in Live Oak. She was the 3 ^rd born of 4 girls.  Mabel was a well-known face in the Dixie Grill back in the 80's, where she helped Burney Ratliff manage the restaurant. She later met and married Gary B. Locke, together they bought the Merle Norman Studio in 1984. Mabel also had right away crews contracted through Mastec in the early 2000's; she had a few different jobs throughout her life but her favorite was working for the Suwannee County Sheriff's Department, where she worked for 11.5 years. She never let the grass grow green under her feet; she lived her life to the fullest. Mabel was one of a kind, very strong-willed, and determined. Mabel was known for big heart, quick wit, and her fiery tongue. She was a very generous person, especially when it came to her girls and grandchildren, "the sky's the limit". She will be greatly missed by her girls, grandchildren, and many others.

She is survived by her daughters: Penelope Johnson; April (Chad) Truluck, both of Live Oak; sister: Jeanie (Gerald) Taylor, Live Oak; five grandchildren: Taylor Truluck, Chloe Truluck, Dylan Sillman, Hayden Sillman, and Gavyn Sillman; nephew: Anthony (Billie Jean) Nobles; two nieces: Donna and Pat Woodham; and great-nephew: Cody Nobles. She was preceded in death by her parents: Paul Burnett and Marie Johnson; husband: Gary B. Locke; sisters: Paula Burnett, Jamie Ellis; and brother: Sam Burnett. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Daniels Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in the Live Oak Cemetery. There will be a visitation held prior to the service at the chapel from 1:00-2:00 pm.
