Maggie (Ethel) Magdaline went to her heavenly home on May 30 ^th , 2022.  She was a good and faithful servant of the Lord her whole life.  Maggie served the Lord by playing the church piano from the age of 13 which led her to teach piano later in life.  She would ask anyone she met "Are you a Christian?"  She wanted to make sure that everyone was saved.

Maggie was born in Jasper, Florida on March 13, 1932, and lived a long, fruitful life until the age of 90.  She spent her last year's enjoying the community at Advent Christian Village, and everyone who knew her loved her.

When she wasn't teaching or playing the church piano, she loved cooking for her family or anyone who was present.  When raising her own six children, she would always take in anyone who needed a place to call home.  She loved cooking big Sunday dinners. The pastor was always invited and most of the time you could find the table full of guests along with her six children. Her other love was gardening, canning tomatoes, and other vegetables.

She was preceded in death by her husband, JH Mercer, and her parents, Sherwood Henry Miller and Lessie Mae Geiger Miller.  She left behind six children; Jim Mercer (Connie Mercer), Paul( Debbie) Mercer, Susan Beaver (Wayne Beaver), Sharon Simmons, Kathy Raper (Jerry Raper), and Lori Mercer (Rick Torgerson), and 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren, 2 nephews; Allen Gilbert and Dale Gilbert along with numerous cousins.

Her life brought joy to many people with her piano playing; cooking and just her personality of making people feel special.  Her other love was shopping and even when she was weak, she could go and amazingly shop until she dropped.

Maggie was a strong woman of faith and raised all of her six children to be Christians and strong people.  She will be missed in more ways than her family can count, and her legacy will live on through the stories told by her family and the music played by those she taught.

Services for Maggie will be held at 11 am Saturday, June 4th at Rocky Sink Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Wehner officiating with the interment following in Orange Baptist Church Cemetery. There will be a visitation held prior to the service at the church beginning at 10:00 am.
