Martha 'Punkin' Brown Cheek, age 94, of Live Oak, FL passed away peacefully at the Haven Hospice House in Lake City, FL. She is survived by daughter: Anna (David), son: Bill (Becky), daughter-in-law: Chris, nine grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: Tom, Sr.; sons: Tom, Jr. and John.

Martha was born and raised in Trenton, FL and attended Trenton High School where she was captain of the girls basketball team. As a teenager she was a 'spotter' for the civil defense during World War II. With binoculars to help her identify airplanes, she would call a number in Jacksonville, give her call sign of 'Long Eleven', and give the plane tail numbers to the person. Martha attended FSU and was proud to have been there the first year they went to co-ed.

She and Tom married in 1948, moved to Live Oak in 1956, and formed Cheek Drug Company. They raised their family in Live Oak and enjoyed many years there with kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, and a host of friends. Martha was an active, faithful member of First Methodist Church of Live Oak and will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

The family would like to thank all the caregivers that helped take care of our mother the last several years.

There will be a service to celebrate Martha's life on Monday, June 10, 2024 at 11am at her home church, First Methodist Church, Live Oak, FL. A reception will be held immediately after the service, so please join the family in the fellowship hall to reminisce and share memories.
