O'Neal Burt Wimberley passed away on May 16, 2022 in Tallahassee, Florida, at age 82 after a protracted struggle with COVID and other illnesses. O'Neal was the loving wife of the late Amos Edward Wimberley and grandmother to six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. O'Neal was born in Fort Payne, Alabama on November 8, 1939.  She moved to Mayo, Florida in September 1969 when she married Reverend Amos Edward (Ed) Wimberley.  During her many years in Lafayette County O'Neal was extremely active in her church (Mount Paran Baptist Church) and in community organizations including the library, the Women's Club and Seven Gables Food Pantry.  At her home congregation of Mt. Paran Baptist Church, O'Neal is remembered for her tireless dedication to her husband's ministry and her devotion to the work of the church to include the significant time she spent working with children. O'Neal was a faithful follower of Jesus and her life best illustrates her commitment to consistently being a child of God. O'Neal will be missed by all who shared in her joy for living.

O'Neal is survived by her step-son Merrill Wimberley, Merrill's wife Cheryl, grandsons Sean and Todd Wimberley, and granddaughter Karissa Wimberley. O'Neal is likewise survived by great-grandchildren, JD, Pasha, Gisell, and Emery Wimberley. She is also survived by granddaughters Morgan and Tessa Wimberley and grandson Jack Wimberley – the children of Merrill Wimberley's brothers Darryl and Terrell. She is also survived by cherished first cousins Sue Burt Hampton and Zannie Burt of Fort Payne, Alabama, nephew Ricky Lyons of Mayo, Florida, and niece Jenene Estelle Lyons-Starling, also of Mayo, Florida.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 20 at Mt. Paran Baptist Church 707 NE County Road 450. Branford, Florida. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the funeral begins.  Donations in O'Neal's name may be made to Seven Gables Food Pantry,  857 E Main St., Mayo, FL, 32066.
