Oscar Harry Munch Jr., 89, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022, at his home  in Branford, Florida. Oscar was a native of Newfane, New York, and graduated from Wilson High School in Wilson, NY.  He earned his Bachelor of Music degree from Houghton University, his Master of Science degree from Ithaca College, and completed his Educational Specialist degree from University of Mississippi.  Oscar began his teaching career at Drewry Mason High School in Ridgeway, Virginia and taught there four years. Munch then moved to Branford in 1959 to become Band Director at Branford High School and met his wife, Revia, who was BHS's Home Economics teacher.  In 1968, he became the school's guidance counselor; a role he remained in until his retirement in 1992.

Oscar was a member of the Morocco Shrine Club of Jacksonville and Branford for 61 years and was a 33rd Degree Mason. He performed in Jacksonville's Morocco Shrine Band and Dance Band and later became Band Director in 1981. He also volunteered as Lake City Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church's Choir Director for over 30 years.

Oscar is survived by his wife of 62 years, Revia Yvonne Coward-Munch, son, Oscar Harry Munch, III (Melissa), daughter, Mary Munch-Keen (Richard), and granddaughter, Nikita Munch ( Tyler) and a host of nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents,  Mary Vira Meahl-Munch and Oscar Harry Munch, Sr., and brother, James David Munch.

Graveside services will be conducted by Reverend Stevie Harris, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Branford, Florida, on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at 10:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children ( lovetotherescue.org ) or another charity of choice.
