Pattie Peppers Nixon, 62 of Live Oak, FL passed away on Friday August 21, 2026. She was a woman whose life was defined by service, family, and a genuine love for people. Some will remember finding Pattie behind the counter at her Mom and Dad’s business Peppers Paint, Others will remember seeing her at just about any racetrack from South Georgia to Daytona, enjoying the excitement and making memories with the people she loved. For many in Suwannee County, though, Pattie will forever be remembered as the Nurse everyone knew and Loved. She cared for generations of students, offering much more than a Band-Aid or a place to lie down. She offered kindness, reassurance, compassion, and the kind of care that made children feel safe. And her nursing didn’t stop when the school day ended. Behind the scenes, she was also the trusted “daycare nurse” for the family owned daycares, always just a phone call away when someone needed her. Pattie was a former cheer sponsor and a dedicated Suwannee Bulldogs supporter, spending countless hours in the stands, on the sidelines, and wherever else her children, grandchildren, students, and community needed her. If there was a Bulldog playing, cheering, competing, or performing, there was a good chance Pattie was somewhere nearby supporting them. Her passion for helping others extended far beyond her regular working hours. Much of her free time was spent teaching and instructing CPR, helping train employees at many of the area’s local doctors’ offices, dental offices, and daycares. Teaching others how to save a life was simply another extension of who Pattie was—a servant at heart who found purpose in caring for people. Her heart for children also led her to found a special needs foundation, through which she helped and supported countless children and families throughout our community. But of all the titles Pattie carried and all the people she helped throughout her life, none meant more to her than wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Pattie and Dennis shared a love that was easy for everyone around them to see. They were rarely apart, and when they were, you could almost guarantee they were recently on the phone with each other. They truly matched one another’s energy—laughing, cutting up, and simply enjoying life together. Their happiness was contagious, and they had a special way of sharing that joy with everyone around them. Dennis wasn’t just the love of Patty’s life; he was her best friend, her constant companion, and her partner through it all. She was her children and grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader through every sport, every event, every accomplishment, and even through life’s moments of uncertainty and unrest. Whatever they were facing, they knew Pattie was in their corner. She celebrated their victories, encouraged them through their struggles, and loved them without condition. And most recently, she found a whole new kind of joy in being great-grandmother to her little spitfire great-granddaughter, who undoubtedly gave Pattie a worthy match for her own personality and brought tremendous happiness and laughter into her life. Pattie’s life cannot simply be measured by the years she lived, but by the people she served, the children she cared for, the lives she helped protect, the family she fiercely loved, and the community she leaves better because she was part of it. Whether you knew her from Peppers Paint, the racetrack, the school nurse’s office, a daycare, a CPR class, the football field, the gym, the cheer sidelines, or simply as family or friend, chances are Pattie made you feel cared for. That was simply who she was. She spent her life taking care of others, cheering for others, and putting the people she loved ahead of herself. Her absence will be deeply felt, but the love she gave so freely will continue through the countless lives she touched.

She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years: Dennis Nixon, Live Oak; Daughter: April Peppers Meeks (Travis), Live Oak; Son: Brad Nixon, Live Oak ;Grandchildren: Rilyn Waters Clark (Dilan) & Covey Grace Clark, Payton Waters, and Cason Meeks;  Sister: Carla Peppers, Live Oak; Brothers: Gil Peppers, Claude Peppers both of Live Oak, and Mickey Peppers, Nashville, TN;  Life long friend: Lisa Garrison; Numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, August 29, 2026 at the Westwood Baptist Church with Rev. Matthew Pennington officiating. Interment will follow in the Live Oak Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:00 am until service time at the church.
