Lawrence R. "Richard" Smith, Jr., aged 88, of Live Oak, FL, passed away on May 26, 2026. Born on October 4, 1937, to the late Lawrence R. and Dorothy (White) Smith, Sr., Richard was a man of Methodist faith. He moved to Live Oak in 2023 from North Carolina. A proud Navy Veteran, Richard dedicated his career to serving as a News Director for WCTV6 and as a carpenter for the Department of Aging in North Carolina. He was a graduate of Florida State University, holding a Bachelor's Degree, and was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-eight years, Nancy W. Smith of Live Oak, FL; his two daughters, Loray Bayless (Randy) of Live Oak, FL, and Valerie Larsen (Ralph) of Clermont, FL. He also leaves behind his brother, David Smith (Jackie) of Jacksonville, FL, and two cherished grandchildren, Courtney Larsen and Kendall Larsen.
