Robert C. "Bill" Childress, III, 76, passed peacefully on February 9, 2025 at Select Care Shands in Gainesville, FL. He was better known as Bill or Chilly to his family and friends and was born in Jacksonville, FL on November 7, 1948. After traveling with family while his father served in the Navy, they came back home and settled in Live Oak. After finishing school he joined the Army where he proudly served as a Graves Registration Specialist in Vietnam from 1969 to 1975. He retired from the Florida Department of Corrections after 28 years in 2009, was of Methodist Faith, and was also a member of American Legion Post 57.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Alice, his mother Ruth Childress, his sister Susan Brady (Terryl), along with many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his father Robert C. Childress, Jr.

A visitation will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, February 13th at Daniels Memorial Chapel in Live Oak with the service following at 2:00 pm with Rev. Jake Brady officiating. Interment will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery in Branford.
