Robert F. "Bobby" Bates, 78, O'Brien, FL passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2023. The Lafayette County , FL born native was a life long resident of O'Brien and was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Bates worked as an aircraft mechanic for Aero Corp in Lake City, where he retired after 35 years. He loved antiques, flea markets, mountains, and spending time with family. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, growing tobacco, corn and sweet potatoes.

Mr. Bates is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years: Irma Joe Hunt Bates; three daughters: Sherry Barber (Roger), Shelia Adams (Stanley), Becky Courson (Hal); son: Robbie Bates; one sister: Charlotte Sessions; one sister-in-law: Dorene Bates; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Garner & Pearl Bates; brother: Tony Bates; grandson: Cory Smith and brother-in-law: Tommy Sessions.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, July 26th at Maypop Cemetery with Rev. Randy Henderson officiating. There will be a visitation held on Tuesday, July 25th at Daniels Funeral Home (Branford) from 6:00-8:00 pm.
