Robert (Bobby/Bob) Eugene Owens died at home on April 12, 2025 at the age of 87. He lived a life of loyalty and generosity.

Bobby was born August 8, 1937 to Melvin and Dorothy Ray Owens in Ocala, Florida. He moved to Branford, Florida, by way of Lake City, when he was nine. In 1956 he began a career with the Seaboard Coastline Railroad and CSX, in Jacksonville.  He retired as a Conductor in 1998 after 42 years of service. He was a former member of the United Transportation Union – Local 903. During this time he married Connie Citro and they shared a wonderful life together for 38 years. Shortly after Connie's death he returned to his childhood home in Branford to be near his brother Don, sister-in-law Billie Jean and his nieces.

Bobby never met a stranger and made fast friends with all he met, including his two beloved dogs, Maggie and Hobo. Whether in Suwanee or Duval County, Bob could be found in his garage or warehouse surrounded by his many tools and visitors. He was a wood-working craftsman and loved to make treasures for his daughters, family and friends. If you needed a nut, bolt, rare tool or something fixed – Bob was your man!  He loved being around friends and family while tinkering in his favorite places.  If the door was open – Bob welcomed your company!

Bobby is survived by his daughters Pamela (Chuck) Wehde of Jacksonville, Paula (Mike) McCormick of Birmingham, Alabama, Linda Bennett, Joanna (Eddie) Allison, and Marilyn Bennett of Akron, Ohio; grandchildren Abigail McCormick, Bryce Wehde and Lisa Preston of Hudson, Ohio; greatgrandchildren Ava and Ben Preston; sister-in-law Billie Jean Owens; niece Donna Rae Reid (Phillip); Melissa ONeail (Troy) as well as many loving great nephews and nieces, neighbors, and friends.

Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Connie; father, Melvin; mother, Dorothy Ray; brother, Donald; niece Cathy Jean. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Vitas Hospice of Northeast Florida, specifically nurse Nikki and care-giver Cindy. Graveside services will be held Friday, April 25, 2025, 2:00pm at Old Oak Grove Cemetery in Branford, Florida.
