Russell Hancock passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025. He was born on 9-11-1932 in Lake City, Florida. He attended Columbia County Schools, graduating from Columbia High School in 1952. Russell served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1958.

He was qualified as a Fire Control Mechanic, and while stationed at Cannon Air Force Base, he maintained the weapons delivery systems on the F-100 Super Sabre. After attaining the rank of S/SGT, he was honorably discharged and returned to Florida to pursue his goal of becoming a beef cattle farmer. He dedicated the next 60 years to working on his farm and enjoying his passion for taking care of his cattle. Were you to ask Russell about his most cherished achievement, he would say it was his almost 73-year marriage to his beloved wife, Carolyn. As a loving father, he modeled values such as dedication and self-reliance to his children and descendants across multiple generations. Russell was a devoted Christian and a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Live Oak, FL.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, William R. and Eliza Hancock. Brothers Bob, Wes, J.D., George, and Ronnie. Sisters LaWana, Edith, and Emma.

Russell is survived by his wife Carolyn (Kent) Hancock, Son Phil (Pam) Hancock, Daughter Diane (Mike) Smith, and Daughter Debbie (Ronnie) Reynolds. Granddaughters: Brandy (Tony) Long, Cassie Hancock (Kevin), April (Heath) Smith, and Callie Hancock. Great Grandchildren: Cameron (Noah) Dixon, Cole, Ty, and Colton. Great-Great Grandson: Gunnar Russell.
