Susan Roydell Westberry Hughes, age 84, was born on August 26, 1941, in Arcadia, Florida, and passed away on January 8, 2026, in Bradenton, Florida. She moved to Live Oak, Florida, in 1942 with her family and graduated from Suwannee High School in 1959. On December 25, 1959, she married the love of her life, Remer Hughes, at the home of her parents, J.C. and Alma Westberry. Roydell worked for many years at the Tropicana Glass Plant, where she eventually retired. She was an avid lover of the outdoors and had a deep love for her family and for God. She is survived by one brother, James (Connie) Westberry; two daughters, Denise (Doug) Thurmond and Katie (Jamie) Manning; one son, Tony (Kinikia) Hughes; five grandchildren, Rachel Thurmond, Josh (Dalin) Thurmond, Anthony (Ariana) Gigliotti, and Giovanna Hughes; along with several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Remer Hughes; her parents, J.C. and Alma Westberry; and her sisters, Wilma Tessier and Bessie Parnell. Services will be held at 4:30 pm Friday, January 16th at Daniels Memorial Chapel with internment following in Live Oak Cemetery.
