The family of Thelma Jean Lawson Driver of Live Oak, FL is saddened to announce her passing on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at the age of 77 years old.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son: Darren and daughter-in-law Marla; grandchildren: Kaylee, Dustin, MacKenzie, Landry, Cason, Durand, Rileigh; great-grandchildren: Memphis, Chaselynn, Brenleigh; siblings: Ronnie Lawson (Brenda), Sheryl Nobles (Randy); a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband: Pernell Driver; son: Heath Driver; parents: Otis and Ruth Buchanan Lawson.

Thelma was born on June 28, 1945, in Lakeland, Florida, married Pernell Driver of Mayo, FL on May 1, 1964, and was blessed with two sons while they lived in West Palm Beach, FL. She worked in several businesses but is most known for owning and operating The Mayo Cafe, Mayo Flower Shop, and Pj's Bar-B-Que. After her time spent as a business owner, she worked in real estate helping many families and businesses.

She also spent many years working as a radio DJ for a local gospel radio station in Mayo, FL. She had a popular call-in program every Saturday morning. Many people made requests to hear their favorite gospel song. She always dedicated songs to her friends and family members to recognize their birthdays. One of her favorite ways to serve the Lord was playing the piano. For many years she played the piano at several churches and was known as the "circuit riding pianist". She was an active member of the Shands Auxiliary in Live Oak, FL. Up until the time of her passing, she worked as a travel planner and escort for Madison Travel for twenty-three years. She loved people and traveling so her current occupation was a perfect way for her to enjoy her retirement years.

Thelma never met a stranger and always had a smile on her face. She truly had the joy of the Lord and her joy was infectious.

Visitation will be held at Daniels Funeral Home in Live Oak on Saturday, January 21, 2023, from 10:00-11:00 am. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am with interment following in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Thelma Driver Scholarship Fund at Riveroak Technical College, 415 Pinewood Drive SW, Live Oak, FL 32064.
