Vernon Carlton Byrd, 79, Live Oak, FL passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024. Mr. Byrd was a lifelong resident of Live Oak, a 1962 graduate of Suwannee High School, an Officer in the Florida National Guard, 269th Engineer, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Live Oak. He loved the Lord and his family. Mr. Byrd owned/operated Montgomery Ward Catalog Store and Byrd Painting, and in his later years worked at Lowe's in the Paint Department.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years: Betsy Bass Byrd, Live Oak, FL; daughter: Stacey Skierski (John), Live Oak, FL; four grandchildren: Jason Bullock (Callie), Live Oak, FL, Rachael Tanksley (Ryan), Live Oak, FL, Alexis Collins (Ryan), Lake City, FL, Leigh-Anna Boone (Jesse), Lake City, FL; six great-grandchildren: Raleigh and Reece Bullock, Saylor and Palmer Boone, Kane and Rylin Collins; daughter-in-law: Amy Byrd, North Carolina; brothers-in-law: Carter Bass (Vickie), Tallahassee, FL, Stevan Bass (Janet), Live Oak, FL; nieces & nephews: Troy, Laura Katherine, Lucy Kate and Caroline Roberts, Forrest, Amy, Jackson, Hamilton, and Graham Bass, Austin and Celia Moser, Josh Emily, Olivia and Bianca Blackmon. He was preceded in death by his son: Brad Byrd.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, March 8th at Daniels Memorial Chapel with Rev. Robert Bass officiating. There will be a visitation held prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in Macedonia Cemetery.
