Wade Hurst, 77, of Live Oak, FL passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at his home. Wade was born and raised in Live Oak, FL, he spent his entire life on the family property. A combat veteran of the Vietnam War, he served his country proudly in the US Army. After his military service, he dedicated over 20 years to law enforcement as an officer for the State of Florida, earning the affectionate title of 'mayor of Ellisville'.

He had a passion for the outdoors, enjoying hunting and especially fishing on his airboat in the Gulf. He cherished being in God's creation and was known for his ability to fix anything with his hands.

He was a devoted family man, deeply loving his children and grandchildren, and adoring his wife Shirley, whom he always took care of. His faith was an important part of his life, as he attended Live Oak Christian Church for many years, serving as a deacon and singing in the choir until he fell ill.

He is survived by his beloved wife Shirley Hurst, his daughter Monica (John Paul) Holt, his sons Wade M. (Shari) Hurst and Kevin (Tiffany) Hurst, his sister Louann (Donald) Mauldin, his brothers J.B. (Gail) Hurst and Buddy (Gabriel) Hurst, and his grandchildren Zachary, Tobby, Kevin 'Drew', Jace, Reed, Jennifer, J.P., and Jacob. He was preceded in death by his twin brother Wayne.

Visitation will be held from 10-11am on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Daniels Funeral Home in Live Oak, with a service immediately following at 11am. Interment will follow in Live Oak Cemetery.
