William Wade Edwards June 6, 1936 – May 7, 2026

William Wade Edwards, age 89, passed away peacefully in his home on May 7, 2026. A devoted husband, father, and master tradesman, he leaves behind a legacy of hard work and unwavering community spirit.

Born on June 6, 1936, in Miami, Florida, Wade grew up in South Florida and graduated from Coral Gables Miami Senior High, where he played football. Following his education, he joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), beginning a distinguished career as a Master Electrician. His professional contributions included major infrastructure projects across the state, most notably the Nuclear Power Plant in Crystal River, Florida. He remained a dedicated member of the IBEW until his retirement in the 1990s.

In 1976, Wade moved to Live Oak, Florida, where he hand-built the family home for himself and his wife, Winona. While he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, his true passion was his local community. For decades, he was a fixture at Suwannee High School athletic events, where he and his best friend, Joe Spilatore, spent countless seasons cheering on the Suwannee Bulldogs in football, baseball, and softball.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Winona Edwards; his children, Terry and Leon; and his sister, Belinda. His legacy continues through his five grandchildren, Dustin, Kylie, Clint, Clay, and Dylan; seven great-grandchildren, Blake, Macie, Tayah, Harlon, Jude, Ty, Mason; and two great-great-grandchildren, Christopher and Roan.

Wade was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Leona Edwards; his sister, Wanda; his son, Wayne; and his niece, Michelle.

Per his request, no formal services will be held. The family appreciates the outpouring of support and requests that you remember Wade by cheering a little louder for the Bulldogs this coming season.
