Yvonne Johnson McDavid, 87, passed away on January 19, 2026, at Bedrock Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Live Oak, Florida, after a brief illness. She was the first child born to Charles G. Johnson, Sr. and Irma Smith Johnson on April 19, 1938, in the small community of Newbern in rural Suwannee County, Florida. Yvonne grew up in Live Oak, Florida, and graduated from Suwannee High School in 1956, where she was a cheerleader and excelled in sports, especially basketball.

After high school, Yvonne worked as a telephone operator at North Florida Telephone Company. In 1961, she married Terry McDavid eventually settling in Lake City, Florida, where they raised their daughters. She was active as a member of First Baptist Church of Lake City and was involved in the planning of the Battle of Olustee Festival.

Yvonne's life revolved around her family, her faith, and her friends. She loved her family deeply, especially her girls, and was always supportive of them in their many activities and endeavors. As a Christian, she was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Lake City and, upon returning to Live Oak in 1989, Westwood Baptist Church, where, as a member, she attended Sunday School and Church, as well as volunteering in the church library until her health declined and she moved to The Canopy in Lake City, Florida, in 2021. All the while, Yvonne continued to engage with her friendship circle, many of whom were her high school classmates.

Yvonne will be remembered for her abiding love for her family, her faithfulness to her Lord, and her loyalty to her friends. She had a kind, gentle, welcoming spirit, but was also known to get a little "feisty" when she thought it was necessary.

Yvonne is survived by her two daughters, Barbara James and Judy Conklin; four grandchildren, Tessa James, Corey Conklin, Marley James, and Jerrie James; two great-grandchildren, Chloe Conklin and Bodhi Conklin; and her brother Bill Johnson (Jenny). She was preceded in death by her infant daughter: Linda McDavid and her brother: Charles Johnson, Jr.

A visitation will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 26th at Daniels Memorial Chapel with services following at 2:00 pm officiated by Dr. Jimmy Deas. Private interment will take place in Mt.
