Michael Hurst, 61, Live Oak, FL passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020. Michael was raised on the family farm in Hatch Bend, Florida and graduated from Lafayette High School.  He was a welder by trade but had many other talents ranging from electrical to plumbing and mechanical.  Michael retired from GE as a Maintenance Superintendent with 30 years of service.  He was currently employed as the Maintenance Superintendent at Hamilton Correctional Institution with the Florida Department of Corrections. Michael was a great storyteller, never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone with a project.  He had many friends throughout his life who he always kept in contact with.  Michael loved fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and he also was a member of Hatch Bend Baptist Church. Mr. Hurst is survived by his wife 31 years: Tammie Hurst; son: Justin Alan Hurst; two sisters: Phyllis Florrie (Ronnie) Smith, Rachel "Cookie" (Jason) Chavous; sister-in-law: Michelle Pyle; two brothers: Charles (Donna) Hurst, Wayne (Julie) Hurst; three grandchildren: Lathon Hurst, Teal Hurst; Keaton Hurst: several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Gordon & Catherine Hurst; daughter: Bridgett Angela Hurst and son: Christopher Michael Hurst. Grave side services will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, August 12th at Hatch Bend Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Steve Boyd officiating.
